Mentor a team in a course
See the course teams you mentor, read what they hand in and offer office hours. Their own workspace stays theirs.
A course's professors (or the university's admins) invite mentors by email, like students. If you already have an account with that address, you are in the course at once. Otherwise, open the link in the email to join. The course's staff then assign you to one or more teams.
Open the course
The course is in the workspace menu at the top of the sidebar, under Programs. In it, the menu has Home, Discussions, Messages, Tasks, Calendar and Files, then Teams, Hand-ins and Office hours under Your course, and the course's channels under Channels.
See your teams
Home says how many teams you mentor and shows a card for each: its members, its mentors, a mark per course task (handed in, late, missing or not due yet) and its latest hand-in. Page opens the team's page. Until the staff assign you a team, Home says No team is assigned to you yet. Latest in channels shows the newest messages in the course's channels.
Teams lists every team in the course and who is in it. The teams you mentor are marked Your team.
Read their hand-ins
Hand-ins shows the teams you mentor only, with a row per team and a column per course task.
- Choose a course task: its column, or its name above the grid.
- For each of your teams, see who handed it in and when, the files and the note. Open a file to read it.
- Message team opens a chat with the team's lead. Team page opens its page.
You see a team's files and note only once they hand it in. Drafts stay the team's. Hand-ins are read only for mentors: the course staff remind teams and reopen hand-ins.
Course tasks are in the course's Tasks too. Comments on a course task are seen by everyone in the course, and you can comment.
Offer office hours
- Open Office hours and, under Offer office hours, pick an Event type. It must be switched on and public or link only. If you have none, choose Make an event type.
- Add a Note if you like, for example when you are free.
- Choose Offer office hours.
The course's students book you at the times in your availability, and the bookings show in the course's Calendar. Change your offer with Save, or end it with Stop offering. See Set the hours people can book.
What stays the team's
You are not a member of the teams you mentor. You don't see their own tasks, files, chats or drafts: only what they hand in. A mentor can't also be on a team of the same course.
