Large Rounds: Proptech and HR Tech Lead the Way
The biggest single-company raise of the day came from the real estate sector. Homeward, the buy-before-you-sell financing platform, closed a $120M Series D as the housing market remains sluggish. The round signals that investors still see structural demand for liquidity tools in residential real estate, even when transaction volumes are soft.
On the enterprise software side, Metaview pulled in roughly $60M in a Series C led by Insight Partners, with participation from GV, Seedcamp, Vertex Ventures US, Plural, Intrepid Growth Partners, and Garuda Ventures. The London-based company automates the full recruiting workflow, from sourcing through final hiring decisions, and the round comes just one year after its previous raise.
Early-Stage AI: Voice, Transcription, and Sales
Several seed and pre-seed AI companies found backing on October 1.
- Deepslate, a Berlin-based voice AI platform for European markets, raised $9M in a seed round led by 42CAP, with Alstin Capital and SIVentures also participating.
- Good Tape, a Copenhagen-based AI transcription tool used by 3 million people across 150 countries, raised an undisclosed amount from Nordic Makers and also launched a new product called Explore.
- Revnu, a Manchester-based AI sales pipeline platform, raised $3M led by NPIF II, PXN Equity Finance, to expand in the UK and US.
Space and Defense Tech
Two European space startups and one defense-focused company made noise with early funding.
- Foundational, a London-based satellite positioning and debris-tracking startup, exited stealth with roughly $12M in pre-seed funding from Inflection, BACKED, Final Frontier, Adjacent, and Type One.
- An unnamed startup building virtual AI data centres in orbit raised $8M to connect computing resources across satellites.
- Osavul, a threat-detection startup born from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, closed an $9M Series A to help NATO and governments identify hostile activity before it escalates.
Climate and Fintech
- Voltaback, a French fleet management software company focused on EV charging reimbursement, raised $3M from Serena and several business angels, including Electra co-founder Aurelien de Meaux.
- Seeds Fincap, an Indian rural lending platform, closed a Series B of roughly $12M led by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, with plans to open branches and hire field workers in underserved towns.
VC Fund Closes: European Infrastructure Capital Builds Up
Three fund closes rounded out the day and may have broader implications than any individual company raise.
- Headline closed its eighth European early-stage fund at $400M, backed by prior bets on Mistral and Black Forest Labs. The fund targets Seed and Series A companies across the continent.
- DIG Ventures closed a $120M Fund III to back early-stage AI infrastructure and cloud companies in Europe, with institutional LPs including Horsley Bridge and Sofina.
- LAUNCHub Ventures, based in Sofia, announced the first close of Fund III at $65M, targeting a final close above $75M, backed by international financial institutions and exited portfolio founders.
What the Day's Raises Signal
The October 2 slate reflects a market that is concentrating capital at two extremes: very large rounds for companies with proven revenue models (Homeward, Metaview) and continued appetite for deep-tech bets at the earliest stages (Foundational, Deepslate, Osavul). The three European VC fund closes in a single day, totaling more than $580M in fresh commitments, suggest that limited partners still view European AI and infrastructure as underfunded relative to opportunity, even as public markets remain selective about which companies earn a listing. Defense and space technology, once niche categories, are now routine fixtures in any given day's funding digest, a shift that reflects both geopolitical pressure and improving commercial economics in low-Earth orbit.
