Today's Top Startup Funding Rounds: July 31, 2026 Recap

Mega Rounds: Cleantech and Late-Stage Growth

The day's standout raise came from the energy storage sector. Antora closed a $550M Series C, one of the largest cleantech rounds of the year, with plans to accelerate deployment of large-scale thermal battery projects to meet surging power demand from AI data centers. The round underscores how AI infrastructure is now a direct catalyst for clean energy investment.

In India, quick-commerce giant Zepto is targeting roughly $120M (Rs 1,000 Cr) in a pre-IPO round at a $4.5B valuation. The raise is expected to be led by domestic investors, a deliberate move to lift Indian shareholding ahead of a public listing that has been pushed back.

European VC: A Major Fund Close and University Spinout Momentum

On the fund side, Highland Europe closed its sixth vehicle at €1.1B, earmarked for growth-stage European technology scaleups. The close arrives against a strong backdrop for European startup formation: according to Sifted data, 222 university spinouts across Europe raised a combined €4.9B in the first half of 2026, a signal that deep-tech pipelines from academic institutions remain robust.

Series C: Cybersecurity for the Mid-Market

  • Inforcer, $50M Series C, led by Insight Partners (with Meritech Capital and Dawn Capital participating). The London-based company builds a unified AI security platform targeting managed service providers and smaller businesses navigating expanding cyber risk.

Seed and Early-Stage Raises

  • Intropy, approximately $11M Seed, led by Felix Capital (Quiet Capital, General Catalyst, and firstminute capital also participated). The London company is building an AI-native platform for spare parts businesses, covering inventory, pricing, and supply chain decisions, with US expansion next.
  • AI Infrastructure Capital AG, €16M launch round, anchored by Valyou investment foundation. The Swiss startup buys servers, operates them on renewable power, and rents compute capacity on long-term contracts, positioning itself directly in the AI compute bottleneck conversation.
  • Perceptron, $6.5M strategic round. The decentralized AI data network brought together Web3 investors, trading firms, and ecosystem partners.

India: Agriculture, Housing, and Biotech

  • Arboreal Bioinnovations, approximately $27M (Rs 230 Cr) Series A, co-led by EAAA and Omnivore. Funds go toward manufacturing capacity and R&D for its bio-based products.
  • Aham Housing Finance, approximately $12M (Rs 100 Cr), from The Sanmar Group. Capital will support geographic expansion and technology investment.
  • Sid's Farm, approximately $10M (Rs 81 Cr) pre-Series B. The dairy brand will invest in supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, and farmer partnerships.
  • Cellarim Labs, approximately $720K (Rs 6 Cr) early-stage round. The Indian biotech converts renewable bio-waste into cosmetic ingredients and will use funds for pilot-scale production.

Mobility and Micro-Verticals

  • Bikekey, undisclosed strategic investment from German firm TÖNNJES. The Danish digital bike registry plans to expand its registration platform into new international markets.

Editorial Perspective

Three themes stand out from today's raises. First, energy infrastructure is attracting institutional capital at scale, driven almost entirely by AI data center demand rather than traditional utility cycles. Second, the mid-market security gap is drawing serious growth equity, with Inforcer's round reflecting investor conviction that managed service providers are an underleveraged distribution channel for cybersecurity tools. Third, India continues to produce a diverse funding mix across consumer, agri-tech, housing finance, and biotech, with domestic capital increasingly stepping in at later stages, as seen with Zepto, to prepare companies for public markets on home turf.
