June 2 Startup Funding: $215M African EV Raise, AI Compliance Exits

Major Growth Rounds

Spiro raised $215 million in equity funding to expand its electric motorcycle battery-swapping infrastructure across Africa. The electric mobility company is building charging networks for urban transport electrification as competition heats up in the continent's EV market.

Gradient Labs doubled its Series A to $26 million with an additional $13 million raise. The AI-powered finance startup develops automated agents to eliminate repetitive tasks in customer operations for financial services companies.

European Energy and Climate Tech

encosa secured €25 million in seed funding to bring battery energy storage systems to German small and medium enterprises. The Munich-based company raised the full amount in under two years, with the round led by Realyze Ventures and participation from Verve Ventures, Bayern Kapital, Blum Ventures, and Kopa.

Invisix, an ASML spin-out, raised an oversubscribed €20 million seed round for semiconductor metrology tools. The Eindhoven-based company develops next-generation measurement equipment for advanced chip manufacturing, backed by Hitachi Ventures, Transition Ventures, imec.xpand, and Doosan Investment Co.

Circular11 secured €2.7 million to turn low-grade plastic waste into building materials. The Dorset-based startup aims to recycle 10,000 tonnes of plastic over the next two years.

AI and Enterprise Solutions

Bayshore exited stealth with $8 million in seed funding led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The Munich-based startup built an agentic AI platform for automating legal and compliance workflows in an auditable way. Lucid Capital, Booom, Heliad, and strategic angels participated.

Return Helper raised $4 million in Series A funding to optimize cross-border ecommerce returns using AI technology for international retailers.

Food, Health and Consumer

Lune & Wild raised €2.3 million in Series A funding led by Guinness Ventures to scale its chef-led baby and children's food brand across retail channels.

Simple Energy secured Rs 250 crore (approximately $30 million) in Series B equity and debt funding to expand electric two-wheeler production capacity in India.

Anveshan raised Rs 150 crore (approximately $18 million) led by Vertex Ventures to grow its offline and digital channels and enhance quality infrastructure.

Fund Formation

Gigascale Capital, founded by former Meta CTO Mike Schroepfer, closed a $250 million climate fund to back founders building solutions for energy and material shortages.

The day's funding activity signals strong investor appetite for climate technology and AI automation across diverse sectors. From African electric mobility to European energy storage and AI-powered enterprise tools, capital is flowing toward solutions addressing fundamental infrastructure and efficiency challenges.
